Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals (“Mallinckrodt” or “Company”) has retained Major, Lindsey & Africa on an exclusive basis to conduct a search for a Vice President, Chief Intellectual Property Counsel to be located at its Bedminster Township, NJ offices. The Company is an equal opportunity employer.
Overview: Reporting directly to the Company’s General Counsel, the Vice President, Chief Intellectual Property Counsel is responsible for providing business-centric legal advice and assisting the Company in setting strategic direction on a full range of intellectual property matters and services, including patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets, in order to identify, secure, protect and defend Mallinckrodt’s investments in intellectual assets with the purpose of adding value to the business. The successful candidate will be a leader who will work closely with Mallinckrodt’s senior management and leadership teams to understand the needs of the business and provide advice on intellectual property matters. This position requires an experienced IP attorney with strong business acumen and expertise in the pharmaceutical industry, who is capable of handling highly complex issues that significantly impact the Company.

Experience: The successful candidate should have a minimum of 15 years of experience including prior in-house experience as principal IP counsel for a pharmaceutical and/or medical device company. Experience developing and implementing IP policies and strategies, assessing strategic issues, managing or leading intellectual property litigation/challenges, providing strategic IP guidance and opinions in support of strategic transactions, evaluating the patent and trademark portfolios of competitors, managing budgets, conducting risk/benefit assessments and strategically balancing use of internal resources and outside counsel are also required. A B.S./B.A. degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry, pharmacy or a related scientific/engineering field is also required.
Compensation: Competitive and commensurate with experience.
