Global Fortune 500 public company seeks a top Labor & Employment counsel with 6-10+ years’ experience to represent the company and its subsidiaries in a broad range of labor & employment and related litigation and benefits matters. Some of the primary responsibilities of this position will include:
Providing counsel on a broad range of labor and employment law matters, both domestic and international, including FMLA, leave of absence, wage & hour, employee discipline, harassment, EEO, ADA, etc.
Conducting internal investigations, handling administrative proceedings before federal and state agencies, and assisting with employment related litigation in federal and state courts
Working with Human Resources to provide advice and counsel on employee discipline, terminations, internal investigations, complaint resolution, etc., and the drafting and administration of employment policies and handbooks
Providing training to HR staff, management and employees on relevant HR topics and employment law
Keeping up to date on pertinent legal developments and relevant legislative and regulatory updates
Providing counsel on various compensation and benefits matters
At least 6-10+ years’ relevant experience in a labor & employment and employment litigation practice at a top law firm or major public company
Experience handling matters for both union and non-union employers, domestic and international
Significant experience providing counsel to Human Resources and Compensation & Benefits teams on a broad range of topics
Prior background and understanding of ERISA, compensation and benefits matters highly preferred (i.e. qualified pension and 401k plans, non-qualified deferred compensation plans, health and welfare plans, etc.)
Experience with affirmative action and OFCCP audits a plus
Excellent communications, presentation and analytical skills required
Demonstrated leadership ability and effective negotiation skills a must
State bar admission required
