UNFI (United Natural Foods, Inc.) has retained Major, Lindsey & Africa on an exclusive basis to conduct a search for a Senior Corporate Counsel to be located in Providence, RI. UNFI is an equal opportunity employer.
Position Overview: The Senior Corporate Counsel will be a key member of the Company’s legal team responsible for independently drafting and negotiating, and leading a team of contract attorneys drafting and negotiating, a wide range of complex commercial contracts and customer credit arrangements, and providing business counsel and legal advice to senior management. The Senior Corporate Counsel will, among other things, advise on and approve contracts and other agreements for designated operating departments of the Company, play an integral role in developing and implementing contract templates for new business models and harmonizing agreements in connection with integration of two legacy companies, and ensure adherence to the Company’s contracting policy and procedures. This position will serve as a key contact for wholesale supply senior leadership regarding customer contracts and relationships, work closely with the Company’s business units and other internal professionals and will require a high degree of organization and process-orientation. The role reports directly to the Deputy General Counsel, Corporate & Strategic Transactions.

Experience: Approximately 11+ years of legal experience gained in a sophisticated law firm environment and prominent in-house legal department, with experience leading a team in drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex commercial agreements. Well-honed drafting and negotiation skills and experience handling a variety of commercial and transactional matters, self-motivation, flexibility, efficiency, strategic thinking and strong business acumen are also required.
Compensation: Competitive and commensurate with experience.
