United Natural Foods, Incorporated (“UNFI”) has engaged Major, Lindsey & Africa (“MLA”) on an exclusive basis to conduct a search for an Employee Benefits Counsel to be located in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
This position, which will be located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, requires an Undergraduate degree from a well-known university/college combined with a J.D. from a highly respected law school, membership in good standing to the State Bar of Minnesota or the ability to register as an “in-house counsel” pursuant to the applicable Minnesota Supreme Court Rules, and eight (8) years (10+ preferred) of experience in a law firm or corporate law-related setting handling compensation and benefits issues, preferably for large public company clients.
The candidate, reporting to UNFI’s Deputy General Counsel, Labor and Benefits, will be an integral part of the Legal team, providing hands on legal and strategic support to the company, primarily on compensation and benefits related matters (both qualified and non-qualified plans), including, but not limited to, the company’s general compensation programs, incentive programs, health and welfare plans, retirement plans, severance plans, and a broad range of executive compensation issues, including those that implicate 409A and 162(m). Experience with multiemployer health and retirements plans also desired.
