Major, Lindsey & Africa is proud to be conducting an important search for The Surface Mining Division of Komatsu Mining Corp. Group, a preeminent part of the global Komatsu family of companies, indispensable partners to the mining, forestry, industrial and construction industries. The role, that of Senior Counsel, reports to the General Counsel of the Company’s Surface Mining Division and is located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Senior Counsel will be the primary designated legal support for Komatsu Surface Mining’s Operations, Supply Chain, Product Management and Engineering Teams in both Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Longview, Texas.
The successful candidate will have at least 7 years of legal experience, preferably including both law firm and in-house experience. Admission to a state bar in the US or qualification for admission is also required. Extensive contract drafting and negotiating experience is required. Experience representing equipment manufacturing operations, including capital equipment and raw material purchasing arrangements and experience advising/managing intellectual property and licensing matters (patent, trademark and software) preferred. Some experience handling M&A transactions and advising on international trade compliance matters would be a plus. Local candidates strongly preferred.
