Overview: The Counsel will serve as the labor and employment attorney for Palo Verde and its approximately 2,000 employees, be a part of a small legal team supporting Palo Verde, and a member of the broader Pinnacle West legal function. The successful candidate will provide professional, timely, cost effective and practical legal advice regarding the full range of United States labor and employment law matters and counsel to the human resources function for Arizona Public Service and other Pinnacle West affiliates covering approximately 6,300 employees. He/she will manage compliance with a wide range of federal and state employment laws, including the NLRA, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, ADA, ADEA, FLSA, and FMLA and coordinating advice and input from other internal advisors.
This position requires the regular use of ingenuity and innovation, applying complete understanding and application of legal principals, concepts, practices and standards. The Counsel will enjoy considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments. Legal advice given often has significant potential impact to the company and the Counsel will work with one or more officers or senior management representatives on significant legal matters, often requiring coordination among organizations. He or she will collaborate with all levels of company leadership.

Experience: The successful candidate will have 5+ years legal experience with significant exposure to corporate clients and the types of legal issues regularly faced by large public companies. He/she will have demonstrated experience with labor and employment law and be responsible for managing and providing assistance with litigation and dispute, providing advice and counsel, and policy development.
Compensation: Competitive and commensurate with experience.
Location: Phoenix & Tonopah, AZ. The Counsel will spend 3-4 days per week at the Palo Verde Generating Station roughly 60 miles west of Phoenix.
