Fortune 100 Company is seeking a patent prosecution attorney for an exciting in house opportunity. This role can also be based in the DC area. The ideal candidate will have significant legal experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the communications, computer science and electrical engineering disciplines, as well as experience in advising clients regarding patent matters, licensing, and enforcement/defense of patent rights in these technology areas. Desirable candidates will have demonstrated good legal and commercial judgment and significant experience working with development teams, business leaders and legal department colleagues to clearly communicate advice regarding patent issues. Responsibilities of the position include: communicating with development teams to provide patenting advice, identify inventive activities and solicit disclosure of patentable subject matter; understanding development activities and technology roadmaps of business units, and impacts of those activities/plans to patenting strategy and reviewing invention disclosure submissions and participating in patent filing decision processes. Candidates should have a B.S. in electrical, computer or software engineering, computer science, or other engineering/science degree and registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Also, please have at least 6 years of experience performing patent prosecution activities, either in-house or in private practice, in the areas of computer science, electrical engineering or closely related technical disciplines. Experience should include both USPTO activities and communicating with clients regarding patenting issues.
