This is a great opportunity to join an exceptionally strong and growing legal team in one of Silicon Valley's most well regarded and fastest growing start-ups. This position is responsible for supporting Confluent’s employment, compliance, and international expansion initiatives. Candidates require a background in corporate and employment law, good judgment, a strong work ethic, and an interest in building relationships with cross-functional partners. This position reports to a Managing Counsel on the Confluent Legal Team.
Support Confluent’s growing employee base by advising the People Team on U.S. and international employment laws and best practices
Serve as a cornerstone to our international expansion efforts by managing subsidiary formation, overseeing operationalization, and performing ongoing corporate maintenance
Collaborate with stakeholders within the organization to prepare and manage global corporate policies and compliance - with a particular focus on data privacy, anti-bribery, and export control laws
Assist in all stages of the M&A lifecycle for transactions small and large
Serve as a primary point of contact to teams throughout Confluent on general corporate and compliance matters including the Finance, Marketing, and People Team
5+ years of experience working as an attorney at a top law firm and/or in-house position
JD from a top-tier law school
Active member of a state bar, preferably California
Experience in several of the areas of responsibility, with extensive expertise in at least one
Strong analytical skills and high ethical standards
A willingness to work on projects that are new and/or unfamiliar
A demonstrated ability to work independently and successfully manage multiple internal clients with competing priorities
Excellent written and oral communication skills
An approachable, friendly, and professional demeanor
Additional highly desirable experience
Experience working in a high-growth start-up
Working knowledge of data privacy laws and GDPR
Understanding of FCPA, OFAC, and export control laws
