The Genetics & IVF Institute (GIVF), a leading international reproductive science and technology company, is seeking an experienced General Counsel for its headquarters in suburban Washington, DC. Founded in 1984, GIVF is a leader in frozen donor gametes, operating one of the nation's two largest donor sperm and reproductive tissue storage banks (Fairfax Cryobank), an egg bank (Fairfax EggBank), and fully integrated, comprehensive assisted reproductive technology services and reproductive genetics in an office-based setting. GIVF also provides infertility and genetic services in China and in several other countries through strategic relationships. This position is responsible for creating and negotiating contracts relating to existing and new business initiatives; patient, client and donor agreements; regulatory compliance oversight; and general corporate law and governance matters.
Ideal candidates will have a JD from an accredited law school, ability to become licensed in Virginia within 6 months of hire and seven to ten years’ experience with strong background in contracts, healthcare law and science, and familiarity with CAP, CLIA, FDA and other pertinent regulatory processes. Experience with healthcare privacy, vendor contracting, labor/employment, M&A and dispute resolution are a plus. Excellent verbal and written legal communication skills are essential. English language proficiency required.
