Major, Lindsey & Africa has been retained to handle a Corporate Counsel search for the Hyatt Corporation. This position will provide legal support for Hyatt’s development activities and operational and compliance matters in Latin America. The position will be based at Hyatt’s headquarters in Chicago, Illinois.
The ideal candidate will have 6-8+ years of corporate/transactional legal experience, including significant exposure to international issues and cross-border transactions. Fluency in Spanish is required. The Corporate Counsel will act as a trusted counselor and strategic advisor to developers, finance and operations clients with respect to properties in Latin America. The successful candidate will act as a primary legal point of contact to ensure development matters are properly documented and appropriately reviewed by finance/accounting, tax and other functional areas, as appropriate. The Corporate Counsel will provide support to Hyatt’s asset management groups in Chicago for matters in the Latin American region and occasionally other jurisdictions as required. They will assure maintenance of corporate authorities to conduct business in the Latin American region and be responsible for supporting Hyatt’s Finance and tax group in obtaining any necessary approvals for Latin America transactional matters. Prior experience working on legal matters in the hotel or hospitality sector is a significant plus. Some travel will be required.
