Corporate, General Commercial/Contracts, Transactions
The AGC is responsible for assisting the General Counsel in executing the legal philosophy and operations of Johnsonville, nationally and internationally, in support of the company’s long-term goals and objectives. The successful candidate will provide counsel, service and leadership that touches on a wide range of subjects including contracts, employment, litigation, regulatory matters and governance matters. In each case, he or she must relentlessly drive our business needs and seek to create a competitive advantage, usually in ambiguous circumstances. The successful candidate will also possess a keen business mind and an immense amount of curiosity for Johnsonville’s business drivers as well as a love for elevating legal skills throughout the organization.
Partner with members (including senior management) of each of the Johnsonville business units and shared services
Assisting in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts in the following areas: vendor, customer, employment, leases, real estate, transportation, insurance, IT, tax, and financial
Position may select, engage and direct outside counsel to undertake specific and complex work requiring the application of highly specialized legal knowledge
Support legal compliance matters; work closely with major functions to help implement effective compliance policy and practices
Support strategic activities such as mergers and acquisitions, licensing, joint venture and co-packer agreements, and other strategic partnerships for the holding company and operating company
Promote legal department’s mission through training, coaching and mentoring
Report directly to the General Counsel
Exemplify the Johnsonville Way in all communications and interactions
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited institution
At least 7 years of experience practicing law at a law firm and/or in-house
Experience providing superlative counsel and advice to executives and their related functions
