Power Team Services, LCC’s Corporate Counsel, Litigation & Claims, will be responsible for managing all litigation and claims affecting the business of Services, LLC and its operating subsidiaries, including, without limitation, worker’s compensation, OSHA, EEOC, auto, environmental, and commercial litigation and claims management.
The position will report directly to the Company’s Chief Legal Officer and will work collaboratively with a decentralized team of claims management professionals within the Company’s operating subsidiaries to develop and implement effective and consistent policies and procedures related to litigation and claims management.
The position will also interface with the Company’s executives, managers, administrators, and others to assure that its litigation strategies are aligned with the Company’s objectives and effectively designed and administered to achieve the maximum benefit to the Company and prevent “surprise” results. Other duties may be assigned from time to time.
Developing and applying consistent processes and controls to assure timely and economically efficient management and disposition of all auto, commercial general liability, worker’s compensation, employment liability, environmental, and commercial claims and other litigation
Developing, supporting and managing a decentralized team of claims managers and administrators to assure efficient and timely resolution of claims and promote organizational alignment with the company’s vision, mission statement, budget, and short and long term objectives
Investigating and evaluating claims, developing resolution strategies for all claims and litigation affecting the Company, and driving those strategies to completion
Coordinating the efforts of outside legal counsel, third-party administrators and claims administrators to facilitate expedient and economically efficient resolution of all claims and related litigation
Leading and assisting with internal investigations, and in collaboration with safety professionals, providing root cause analysis of safety incidents
Providing regular claims metrics reporting to operational, safety, and training executives to assist them in their efforts to prevent similar incidents and reduce the frequency and severity of claims
Working collaboratively with the Chief Legal Officer, the Company’s executive team, operational management and human resources teams to promote the company’s culture
Reviewing external counsel invoices and maintaining the company’s billing guidelines for outside counsel
Drafting and providing implementation support for various risk management, HR, and legal policies and procedures, including claims and litigation management guidelines, HR handbooks and safety guidelines
Other duties as assigned – “wearing multiple hats” will be required.
Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school, licensed to practice in GA
1-3 years of litigation experience with a (plaintiff or defense bar), with strong preference for experience in worker’s compensation, OSHA, auto, and/or commercial litigation. Experience in an insurance company beneficial.
Experience directing paralegals, claims management professionals, and third-party administrators
Experience identifying common and novel legal issues, developing litigation strategies, and working independently with little oversight to achieve desired results
