This role can be based in our NYC location or Stamford, CT HQ.
An individual with superior drafting skills and advanced client management skills. You also have strong negotiating skills as well as ability to work successfully both independently and as part of a team.
Have responsibility for general legal matters, including commercial legal advice and contracts, in support of the Commerce Services segment of Pitney Bowes, which includes internet based offerings, cross-border transactions, parcel logistics, fulfillment and related services, and software licensing. You may also be responsible for supporting other corporate functions or business units
Be responsible for drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex agreements, both U.S.-based and with international partners and clients, including structuring and negotiating global master agreements with Fortune 100 companies, parcel logistics and fulfillment agreements, complex licensing and services agreements, OEM/Technology in-licenses, web based terms and conditions, reseller and distribution agreements, payments-related agreements, non-disclosure agreements and various other types of agreements
Advise business unit clients regarding various legal matters and potential disputes
Work on general commercial matters for the business unit, both independently and with other members of the Legal Department
Be responsible for evaluating and acting on compliance needs, including international customs and trade compliance
Manage outside counsel.
As Senior Counsel/Assistant General Counsel you have:
Minimum of 6 years commercial legal experience with background and interpersonal skills necessary to function successfully in a visible and challenging position.
A law degree from an accredited United States law school and be a member in good standing of the bar of a US State or District of Columbia. If the successful candidate is not a member of the New York or Connecticut bar, the candidate will be required to obtain CT or NY authorized house counsel status upon hire.
A diverse corporate legal background, including negotiation experience, general corporate exposure to sophisticated corporate matters, and success in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
A demonstrated ability to work on a wide range of complex commercial transactions and go-to-market alliances, preferably related to a range of technologies, products and services, including technology/software licensing and web-based offerings, including ecommerce-related solutions.
Cross-border international experience, including for example, experience in a legal environment supporting operations for a global company with frequent dealings with transactions/issues in multiple jurisdictions.
Experience in customs and trade-related matters and logistics is considered a strong plus.
The preferred candidate background includes a combination of law firm training and in-house counsel experience.
