We are looking for an Assistant General Counsel to fill an open role in our legal department supporting a high-growth business. The best fit for this role will have extensive experience as in-house counsel with a focus on labor and employment law, benefits, and supporting a world-class human resources team. We put a high value on experience in the healthcare industry and legal support for the regulatory compliance team. In addition, the ideal candidate will have demonstrated the capacity and adaptability to support a wide range of matters with the Corporate Operations team, disputes and litigation, intellectual property, and corporate real estate. You will have demonstrated exceptional customer service and a practical, process-based approach to finding effective solutions for our business. Our legal team is a commercial partner to the business, so we need a team member who shares our focus on collaboration with no room for egos. This position requires leadership in a dynamic, often unstructured environment. Expect minimal supervision in a fast pace environment.
This position will be based in our Chicago headquarters and will report to the General Counsel. Lead and supervise legal and non-legal resources to drive business success.
Effect creative solutions and risk-mitigation opportunities using both a business and a legal skill-set.
Work closely with Human Resources, executive leadership, and the Board of Directors to provide exceptional legal advice on labor and employment, compensation, and benefits matters.
Analyze risks and strategic opportunities from a legal perspective with a view toward creating long-term solutions.
Seek out opportunities to create scale and leverage in the legal support model with one-to-many tools and templates, effective business processes, and innovative solutions.
Lead by example and collaborate with the legal department and cross-functional teams around the world.
Perform additional services and projects as assigned.

Education: Juris Doctor required
Minimum 10-15 years of work experience with recent, multi-year focus.
Must have in-house experience with a national or global business, demonstrating success and accomplishments in individual work assignments as well as leadership roles.
An action-oriented self-starter and initiative-taker.
English proficiency required; additional languages may be considered favorably.
Technology-savvy; adaptable when learning new systems; proficient in Microsoft Office products.
Limited travel expectations (approximately 10%).
Local residents in the greater Chicago area preferred (no relocation).
