The Permanente Medical Group, Inc. (“TPMG” or “Company”) has retained Major, Lindsey & Africa (“MLA”) on an exclusive basis to conduct a search for a Senior Healthcare Counsel to be located near its Oakland, California headquarters.
The Permanente Medical Group, Inc.(“TPMG” or “Company”) is seeking to fill the role of Senior Healthcare Counsel (“Counsel”). Reporting to the Managing Counsel (and Acting General Counsel), the Counsel will provide legal advice and counsel to TPMG’s physician leaders and other executives, managers, and administrators. The successful candidate will have significant experience in diverse areas of healthcare practice, including corporate and commercial transactions, corporate governance, physician-practice issues, contract review, drafting, and negotiation, and regulatory compliance.
TPMG is the largest multi-specialty group practice in the nation with more than 9,000 physicians and more than 35,000 non-physician employees, and an 80-year tradition of providing high quality, cost-effective medical care to their patients. TPMG currently provides care to more than four million patients in Northern California as part of the Kaiser Permanente Medical Care Program.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of significant experience handling corporate and commercial healthcare transactions, including contract review, drafting, and negotiation, as well as dealing with corporate governance matters in a healthcare setting. The ideal candidate must also have experience advising a health care system or systems, as internal or external counsel, with a significant employed and/or contracted physician component, extensive experience identifying and helping to resolve health care regulatory issues, and a demonstrated understanding of physician/hospital/health plan relationships. Proven strong client service, project management, problem solving, negotiation, change management, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
