Based in Carnival Corporation’s global headquarters in Miami, FL, you will report directly to our General Counsel.
For this role, we are not looking for candidates whose experience is primarily litigation.
The objective of this position is to serve as an attorney in the Carnival Corporation Corporate Legal Department. Primary responsibilities focus on the review and negotiation of contractual agreements on behalf of Carnival Corporation and its affiliate companies.
This position will primarily support our Global Sourcing Group along with various other Carnival Corporation departments (including senior management), to provide timely and effective legal counsel.This position mostly works under moderate supervision and the individual in this role must be comfortable making decisions as to contractual language and providing legal advice to business teams. The individual in this role must be efficient, organized and capable of managing multiple projects at the same time.
Additionally, the Associate General Counsel will:
Provide legal advice and support, including drafting, reviewing and negotiating contractual agreements with an emphasis on software licensing, SaaS, hosting and other IT agreements, together with logistics and supplier agreements, licensing contracts, service agreements, technical procurement, fuel procurement and supply contracts, global procurement contracts and related agreements.
Provide support on other projects and transactions as needed.
Supervise and manage special projects from time to time.
Interact with various brands and business units in addressing legal concerns and issues.
J.D. degree from an accredited law school and member in good standing with a State Bar
Three to five years of relevant experience with a major law firm and/or as in-house counsel with experience in commercial transactions
Strong analytical, negotiating, writing and communication skills, including the ability to communicate concepts and issues effectively with all levels of management
Ability to spot various issues that could arise out of a business initiative
Demonstrated ability to evaluate risk, advise various business units of the risks and exercise sound legal judgment
Ability to work efficiently and handle multiple high priority matters at any given time
Highly proficient technical skills in MS Office Suite
Team player who can also work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment with a solution-oriented approach to legal issues
Work beyond normal business hours is required occasionally to support business needs or projects
