This attorney's primary role and responsibility will be the provision of day-to-day counsel to the corporate enterprise and various business units of Follett Corporation on general commercial matters, including customer and vendor agreements. Experience with ecommerce, software/SaaS agreements and/or licensing agreements is a plus. The person in this role will work closely with our business teams and must be proactive and have the ability to make independent decisions.
Draft, review and negotiate various types of commercial contracts, including customer, vendor and licensing agreements.
Draft, review, and negotiate ecommerce, technology, and software/SaaS agreements.
Draft, review, and negotiate privacy and data security matters as necessary.
Be a strategic partner with the business team.
Provide the business team with advice on regulatory issues.
Liaise with senior business partners, compliance, operations, client support teams and other in-house counsel.

Prior background must include at least six years of experience as an attorney in a law firm, or as an in-house attorney, with experience in the types of contracts/matters detailed above.
Strong understanding of contract issues and ability to interact with business team leaders and provide risk analysis balanced against business needs.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including with respect to non-lawyers, and the ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Ability to successfully collaborate and partner with other in-house attorneys at Follett, engage in project related matters from time to time and learn new areas to support the business, as needed.
Possess strong legal and analytical skills with a creative mind set with demonstrated ability to work on multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously.
Ability to gather facts from various sources and take initiative to get information that is not provided.
