The Senior Corporate Counsel position negotiates, drafts, and documents customer and vendor transactions within the standard Global Payments business and risk framework. Success in this role requires exceptional written and verbal communication skills and being adept at identifying key legal issues, finding creative solutions to complicated legal problems, and effectively communicating such matters to internal stakeholders and customers. This Senior Corporate Counsel position reports to the Vice President & Division General Counsel.
Act as primary corporate counsel for several businesses and divisions of Global Payments, but will collaborate with other legal team members from time to time
Draft and negotiate customer facing commercial agreements, including requests for proposals (RFPs), master services agreements, licensing agreements, statements of work, non-disclosure agreements, and other supporting documents
Support and/or lead department projects and initiatives designed to improve legal service delivery within the businesses
Manage competing priorities
Education and Experience:
Law degree from ABA accredited law school and membership in good standing of any state bar
Minimum of 3-6 years of relevant experience, preferably with a mix of law firm and in-house experience
Strong skills and deep experience in drafting and negotiating customer facing commercial agreements
Experience handling transactions in the technology, financial services, and/or payments industries strongly preferred
Exceptional written and verbal communications skills; strong interpersonal skills essential
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and to multi-task in a fast paced, demanding environment
Demonstrated ability to apply innovative problem-solving skills
Demonstrated ability to exercise sound, practical business judgment while working autonomously
Ability to work independently, but in a team environment
