This attorney will assist in the legal, transactional and regulatory issues for the firm’s Americas business. This attorney will report to CBRE Global Investors’ General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer -- Americas. The position will be located at the firm’s headquarters in Los Angeles. By necessity, a strong and close working relationship will exist between the candidate and the senior management of the U.S. as well as global business, as necessary.
Specific responsibilities will include:
Assisting with legal matters for the Americas business, including advising and negotiating on any corporate or real estate transactional matters, supervising outside counsel and overseeing the structuring of investment programs such as commingled funds and separate accounts (including negotiations with investors and clients), labor & employment, regulatory, litigation, corporate governance, fund-level compliance and risk management matters;
Assisting with the strategic management and administration of the Americas compliance program, including developing and implementing policies and procedures, monitoring the effectiveness of controls and performing compliance review functions;
Working directly with the senior management and leaders of the dedicated teams to provide advice on the implementation of strategic and tactical business plans and objectives;
Responsibility for developing and implementing best practices and process improvements, and coordinating between business units and overseas operations; and
Responsibility for legal planning, working with outside counsels, and monitoring transactional execution at the investment level.
This attorney should have around 3-5 years of extensive broad, general real estate/corporate and commercial transactions experience, preferably including investment management and private equity experience;
Knowledge of regulatory requirements and structuring applicable to the real estate investment management business and promotion of investment products is also preferred.
Top academic credentials and major law firm training are required;
The successful candidate will be a practical-minded business attorney who is a team player, enthusiastic, energetic, pro-active, responsive and service-driven;
The successful candidate needs to be able to build strong personal relationships with management, have a “can do” attitude and be able to work to short deadlines when required
