Our client, a global leader in logistics and handling solutions, is seeking an experienced Labor & Employment lawyer to support employment and labor matters globally.
This global role will be responsible for managing a variety of employment law issues and providing clear, actionable advice to HR and management. You will partner closely with the human resources team to provide subject matter knowledge of a broad range of employment issues, including wage and hour, labor, recruiting and hiring, employee management, and HR best practices.
Responsibilities include: o Work closely with HR and advise on a wide-range of employment matters, such as recruiting/hiring, performance management, training, wage and hour compliance, terminations, and the use of contractors and consultants, assessing risk, building processes and earning influence through exhibited expertise o Draft and negotiate a variety of employment related agreements and HR policies, including the company’s handbook o Stay apprised of best practices, trends and developments in labor/employment law and apply them to the business o Help to develop and implement self-service tools and processes for the HR team o Collaborate with the Compliance team to structure employment law compliance across multiple jurisdictions o Provide counsel to the leadership team in day-to-day operations and decision making and be proactive in preparing for employment issues that may arise in the future o Manage and oversee outside counsel where needed, including litigation, arbitration and government agency investigations o Develop informational and educational programs and provide training for the business to avoid common mistakes that lead to litigation issues
Candidates must have the following qualifications in order to be considered: o 8+ years of prior legal experience, law firm and/or in house o Significant experience in US employment and labor laws, global experience and knowledge in employment/labor practices preferred; litigation practice a plus o Detail oriented, organized and efficient o Self-starter with strong inter-personal skills o Ability to efficiently prioritize and handle multiple requests from internal clients o Strong sense of ethics, integrity and sound judgment
Telecommuting is allowed. Employer will assist with relocation costs.
