Company Profile: Genevant Sciences is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development, and commercialization of a broad range of RNA-based therapeutics enabled by proprietary lipid nanoparticle (LNP) and ligand-conjugate delivery platforms. Role Summary: Handle a wide range of IP-related responsibilities as assigned and supervised by the SVP and General Counsel, including participating in business, operational and strategic decisions involving IP strategy and related issues. Additional responsibilities include management of a large patent portfolio and several active contested proceedings; support of established R&D operations in developing and protecting IP; assessment third parties’ IP; resolving IP issues arising in collaborations; clearance of public disclosure requests; management of outside counsel and supervision and training of staff as required. Other duties as assigned. While position will be based in Boston, MA, some travel is expected. Competitive compensation and benefits.
7-12 years of relevant law firm and/or in-house experience with biotechnology or pharmaceutical sciences companies. Significant prior experience in most of the following areas is desirable: patent portfolio management, patent application drafting and prosecution, IP due diligence, freedom to operate assessments, formal and information opinions of counsel, pharmaceutical litigation and contested proceedings such as IPRs and European oppositions, regulatory exclusivities, patent IP licensing. Prior experience with pharmaceutical trademarks is a plus.
Excellent academic credentials, including Juris Doctorate degree and admission to USPTO and admission to, or ability to waive examinations for, Massachusetts bar.
Familiarity with advanced patent search tool, such as Clarivate/Derwent, Epoline, PatentScope, PAIR, etc.
Excellent communications skills, strong analytical skills, and ability to work effectively with teams in fast-paced dynamic environments.
Attention to detail, impeccable work ethic, ability to multitask, and proven track record of consistently delivering high quality work product under pressure.
