Parker + Lynch’s client, a thriving international technology company, is seeking to hire an Employment Counsel to fill a key role in its D.C. office. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a company that is transforming the way humans interact by applying artificial intelligence to predict patterns of interpersonal behavior. The role will report directly to the General Counsel and be a key part of the legal team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This is a hybrid role in which approximately 50-60% of the Counsel’s time will be focused on labor and employment, immigration and compensation matters, while the remainder of time will be allocated among corporate support, commercial contracts, regulatory compliance and other areas. The firm is only open to local candidates at this time.
Provide legal advice regarding diversity, wage and hour issues, equal pay, contingent workforce matters, employee benefits and compensation programs, leaves of absence and accommodations, and other employment law areas;
Design, manage and implement employment law-related projects and programs and oversight of monitoring processes;
Handle immigration and visa issues for a highly mobile workforce with varying nationalities and countries of origin;
Monitor relevant legislation, regulations, case law, and government enforcement activities relating to the above substantive legal areas;
Provide support on litigation and claims relating to the above legal areas;
Draft and edit employment agreements and related documents;
Work with Human Resources and business leaders on internal investigations;
Manage outside counsel in various international jurisdictions;
Assist with employee equity program;
Draft and negotiate contracts for customers, vendors and partners;
Assist with corporate governance, legal entities, and other corporate matters; and
Support company compliance program and related compliance efforts
The ideal candidate will be ambitious, driven, and a self-starter. Other qualifications include:
J.D. from accredited law school
At least 5 years of experience in a large law firm and/or in-house setting; Experience in a technology company is a plus
Significant experience with labor, employment and immigration laws and issues in both US and non-US jurisdictions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent judgment, including in handling of sensitive and confidential information
Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize workload in a busy, growing company
Comfortable in multi-cultural environment with a global legal team and workforce
Member in good standing of the bar of at least one country or US State
Able to travel up to 5% of time
