Our client, a $5B Atlanta based company is seeking an experienced attorney to focus on various employment matters.
This role will support HR in the management and handling of all employment related matters. This position will providing counsel on employment issues including EEO, ADA, Title VII and FMLA matters, wage and hour law, severance issues, non-compete agreements, employment agreements and policy related issues. This role will manage employment related litigation, grievances and arbitrations, and other day to day employment matters that arise in the course of doing business.
Responsibilities will include the following:
Advise on requirements and implications on applicable laws, regulations and policies including ADA, ADEA, FLSA, ERISA, FMLA, Title VII, and employment related state statues;
Participate in the development of legally sound policies and procedures in all areas of employment law including wage and hour matters, per diem, discipline, counseling and discharge, all aspects of laws regarding discrimination, wrongful termination, reductions-in-force, drug testing issues, etc.;
Manage litigation, government agency investigations, audits and administrative charges and develop defenses to legal claims in employment disputes;
Provide pragmatic advice and counsel on areas Non-Compete Agreements and severance matters; Identify and assess legal risks and opportunities and advise accordingly;
Partner with HR and Compliance to implement employment-focused compliance initiatives.
Candidates must have the following qualifications in order to be considered:
Minimum eight years of substantive employment experience with at least 3 years of experience in a corporate legal department;
Ability to work in a highly matrixed organization
Proven track record of building strong relationships and providing proactive and sound legal guidance to business partners resolving complicated matters while maintaining integrity and confidentiality;
Strong problem resolution skills; ability to think strategically, develop solutions and provide practical advice by balancing business needs with legal risk;
Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to collaborate effectively and influence without direct authority;
Ability to effectively manage litigation, arbitration, charges, grievances, claims, and investigations involving labor and employment issues;
Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects autonomously in a challenging, fast-paced environment while consistently meeting time sensitive deadlines;
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to tailor messages and speak to various key stakeholders across the organization in a clear and concise manne
Employer will assist with relocation costs.
