Our client, a Fortune 100 technology driven company, is seeking an experienced patent attorney to lead the IP efforts of a $10B+ strategic business unit.
Responsibilities for this role will include the following:
Direct all IP practices and policy;
Lead the IP Executive Committee including business and engineering leadership;
Establish and maintain excellent relationships with business clients and attorney peers;
Manage all business unit IP attorneys;
Advise business on IP-related transaction provisions
Manage IP portfolios and supervise outside patent prosecution counsel
Lead our freedom to market program; evaluate and resolve product clearance issues
Aggressively drive technology licensing, patent enforcement, and new business opportunities. Draft agreements and conduct licensing negotiations.
Respond to and resolve IP defensive matters
Establish and improve IP best practices
Candidates must have the following qualifications in order to be considered:
An excellent academic record from top schools, including an undergraduate degree in, ideally, chemical engineering, chemistry or material science
Registered to practice before at least one state bar and the USPTO
Minimum of 12 years legal experience directed to patent prosecution, intellectual property transactions, and IP litigation
Strong business acumen; capacity to learn business rapidly and become a business partner
Ability to influence and lead at all levels
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Integrity and good judgment are extremely important
A self-starter who is very productive and has the motivation to assume significant responsibility
Employer will assist with relocation costs.
Additional Salary Information: A very strong compensation package, including equity, will be offered.
