Responsible for ensuring the provision of and for providing legal services and advice and supporting the coordinated management of legal and compliance risks across the Efficient Natural Resources Sector in the Americas.

Maintaining close relationships with the senior members of each of the businesses comprising Efficient Natural Resources in the Americas.Actively contributing to legal aspects of regional commercial and operations activities at senior management level in the Americas.
Responsible, working with the Business Legal Heads and the Sector General Counsel, for devising strategies and procedures to manage legal risk across the Sector in the Americas which fit within the overall Sector legal strategy.
Managing and ensuring the growth and development of the ENR legal team in the Americas.
Responsible for providing legal advice on, drafting and negotiation of the full range of commercial contracts entered into in the Americas and accountable for all but those meeting LRC criteria, in order to manage the risks that flow from those contracts.Ensuring that legal advice is taken on contracts in the Americas.
Supporting the Efficient Natural Resources businesses in the Americas with the implementation of policies and procedures designed to address ethics and compliance risks to the group including working closely with the Efficient Natural Resources Head of Ethics and Compliance and Group Ethics and Compliance, the Sector General Counsel and Business Legal Heads.
Positively engage with compliance and reputational issues, problems and investigations and contribute on these matters and advise with confidence.Leading the ENR Americas legal team effectively in this area and acting as a champion for ethics and compliance in the Americas.
Accountable for providing legal support to the Sector functional teams (HR, EHS and Finance) within the Americas.
Carry out risk assessments within the Americas to identify, and assess materiality of JM’s exposure to legal and compliance risks.
Carry out a wide range of legal and compliance training in the Americas.
Responsible for providing legal advice and carrying out day to day activities on acquisitions, divestments and joint ventures (including drafting and negotiating agreements, reviewing and establishing datarooms) to the extent relating to the Americas working, as necessary, with the relevant Business Legal Head and Corporate and Business Development.
Responsible for managing disputes and negotiating settlements accordingly in the Americas working with the Associate General Counsel – Litigation.
Managing specialist legal services provided by external firms, such as foreign advice, litigation, employment, property and environmental law, settling budgets for advice presented by these firms in order effectively to manage legal spend.
To take on any other duties that are within the employee’s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.

Advising and influencing at all levels in the Americas in order to drive legal risk management and compliance.
Authority to make decisions on legal and compliance matters to the extent they impact the Americas alone or have an immaterial impact outside the Americas and liaising with the relevant Business Legal Head and Sector General Counsel on matters which may have a material impact on relevant businesses within Efficient Natural Resources or the Group.
Developing a legal and compliance plan for the Region in collaboration with the Business Legal Heads, the Sector Head of Ethics and Compliance and the Sector General Counsel for the following 2 years.
Ensure that, where appropriate, legal input is made decisions and strategy in the Americas.
