Deltek is actively seeking a passionate and driven candidate to join our Corporate Counsel team. This position is the ideal opportunity for someone who is seeking to advance their career in the legal field, is interested in supporting our commercial transactions, and is interested in joining a dynamic and high energy team in order to do so.
Draft, review and negotiate complex global technology/licensing agreements (including on premise license, SaaS, and subscription agreements, services agreements, and various partner and procurement agreements), provide practical legal counsel and develop creative solutions to resolve issues.
Manage a large volume and variety of global transactions, negotiating numerous deals simultaneously while balancing appropriate legal and business risks.
Rapidly assess potential risks, benefits and consequences of decisions, present alternatives and propose solutions to achieve business objectives while effectively managing legal and practical business considerations.
Interface directly with customers' and vendors’ legal, procurement and contracting personnel, as well as internal executives.
Work with cross functional teams (Sales, Marketing, IT, HR, Finance, Marketing, etc.) to improve processes and contract templates to achieve better efficiency and productivity.
Assist with or lead legal department projects as needed, including efforts to develop internal process improvements.
JD, bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, and 1-4 years of in-house or law firm experience with high volume commercial transactions is required. Internship experience will be considered on a case by case and relevancy basis.
Interest in global licensing and software technology business and legal issues required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills including drafting/negotiation skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude to foster teamwork and maintain effective working relationships with internal clients and external customers.
Self-starter and independent/strategic thinker.
Skills in the one or more of following areas would be a bonus:
Experience summarizing key legal, business issues and alternatives for executive decisions
Experience with all types of contracts including Pocurement and Vendor contract management
