How would you like to work for a technology company that does not live and die by its quarterly sales performance? This is not your ordinary commercial role. Our client is seeking to add an experienced attorney who will serve as the leader and architect of the Company’s outbound commercial practice – spearheading the evolution of its key agreements with a scalable, business-minded approach. This attorney will work with internal business teams to scale go-to-market strategies for the Company, such as its enterprise Cloud offering, system integrator program, government sales, developer ecosystem, and post-acquisition integrations. This attorney will also collaborate cross-functionally with the Company’s risk, privacy, engineering, sales operations, and technical accounting teams on their areas of expertise – and will advise internal clients regarding legal and business issues, including identifying, managing, and communicating risks and opportunities associated with specific agreements.
This role will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to support several internal teams including enterprise sales, channel, and customer advocate teams as they ship Company products to tens of thousands of customers around the globe. Negotiation of enterprise terms and related data protection agreements with the Company’s largest customers will be required periodically.
The ideal candidate will possess the following profile:
8+ years of experience in technology transactions, including at least 4 years at a top law firm.
In house experience preferred, but our client will consider qualified candidates applying directly from a law firm.
Expert knowledge of Cloud/SaaS offerings.
Experience structuring, drafting, and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
Experience handling privacy and data protection topics in the commercial contract context.
Experience offering pragmatic, business-minded support and expertise to internal teams that influence the entire organization.
A proactive temperament with a problem solving mentality.
Excellent communicator with the ability to influence people across the company.
Ability to handle competing priorities in a dynamic and fluid environment.
Self-starter with a sense of urgency to get things done.
Entrepreneurial mindset with willingness to take on special projects.
J.D. with membership in at least one state bar (preferably CA).
Residence in the San Francisco Bay Area or a desire to relocate to the area.
