-Act as a contact point for data protection authorities on issues relating to data processing and consult with data protection authorities with regard to any other matter where appropriate.
-Work with legal counsel, management, key departments, and committees to ensure the Company has and maintains appropriate privacy consents, notices, and other documentation reflecting current organization and legal practices and requirements.
-Maintain current knowledge of applicable data privacy laws in the APAC region, including the China’s Cybersecurity Law, South Korea’s Personal Information Protection Act, Philippines’ Data Privacy Act, Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act, Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information, and Australia’s Privacy Act.
-Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments to ensure compliance with applicable data privacy laws and regulations and Company policies.
-Develop and implement strategic plans for the collection, use, and sharing of information in a manner that maximizes its value while complying with applicable data privacy laws and regulations.
-Lead efforts to ensure that the Company complies with cross-border data transfer restrictions and data localization requirements in the APAC region with respect to both intra-company transfers and transfers to third parties.
-Support negotiations with customers on data privacy contractual provisions.
-Advise businesses and functions on data privacy issues associated with mergers and acquisitions.
Candidates must have the following qualifications to be considered:
-Five to Ten years practicing APAC data privacy law at a law firm or corporate in-house legal department
-Strong organizational and operational skills
-Strong interpersonal skills
-Excellent judgment, particularly on risk
-Experience operationalizing data privacy laws across a multinational organization, preferred
