CRB, a nationally recognized Engineering, Architecture, Construction and Consulting company, is seeking an experienced attorney to join its legal team.
The Assistant General Counsel will report to the General Counsel and participate in or be responsible for a broad range of legal matters, including contracts, disputes, corporate law and governance, compliance, employment, and other areas of law relevant to the company’s business. This professional will work closely with leadership to ensure that the legal and contractual needs of the company are met. This will include the development and implementation of risk management strategies that support CRB’s continued growth and success.
This position will be located in either Kansas City or St. Louis, Missouri.
Review, draft, and negotiate design and construction contracts.
Provide risk assessments in connection with contract terms and project actions.
Advise and counsel leadership and project personnel on issues relating to design and construction projects, performance issues, contract interpretation, and compliance.
Work with insurance providers on coverage and claim issues.
Support Human Resources in connection with employment issues and compliance related investigations.
Provide legal support for the development of the company’s international business.
Manage and support outside counsel in connection with their legal work for the company or the defense of claims.
Identify key issues requiring action by the Law Department or leadership.
Monitor, track, and report on industry-related legal issues.
Implement and maintain contract management system.
Deliver training and support to CRB’s business units on contracts, compliance, risk and legal issues
Act as a strategic business partner with leadership to develop risk assessment and mitigation strategies across the business, consistent with the vision, values, and culture of CRB.

Juris Doctor Degree, licensed to practice law in Missouri.
Minimum of 10 years of legal experience, preferably in a construction law practice or corporate legal department.
Experience with the preparation, review, and negotiation of design and construction contracts.
Excellent writing, communication and problem solving skills.
Ability to develop strong relationships and collaboratively partner with internal stakeholders to assess legal and business risks and support the implementation of suitable mitigation remedies.
Self-starter with leadership skills, capable of managing projects successfully to completion.
Flexible, willing to travel, and excellent presentation skills.
