The Illinois Bankers Association is seeking a staff attorney licensed in Illinois for our three-attorney Chicago office. Knowledge of federal and state banking laws is preferred but not essential, as the successful candidate will be immersed in ongoing and intensive training. The responsibilities for this position include the following:
Assist in responding to Association member inquiries on state and federal banking laws and regulations through telephone and email communications, a toll-free compliance hotline, and a members-only website dedicated to compliance and risk management officers at member banks (www.GoToIBA.com).
Assist in maintaining the Association’s compliance website, including drafting and adding substantive content to the website on a daily basis.
Assist in supporting the Association’s law department, including the preparation of weekly emails to compliance division members, monthly compliance advisory committee teleconference calls, regional compliance conferences and events, statewide webinars on new laws and regulations, an annual compliance conference, and an annual bank counsel conference.
Assist in analyzing and commenting on federal and state regulatory and legislative proposals and developments relating to the banking industry, including the drafting of comment letters, issue papers and articles.
A modest amount of in-state travel is periodically required.
Please send a resume that details your education (including law school class rank), an unofficial law school transcript, your employment history, and a writing sample to: Jane Miller, Illinois Bankers Association, 194 E.
