Large Corporation in Nashville area is seeking an attorney with experience in regulatory compliance. The candidate should have experience in one or both of the following: (1) advising on vehicle regulations; and/or (2) advising on environmental compliance (stationary source regulations). Significant law firm or Federal or State regulatory agency experience is required. In-house counsel experienced is strongly preferred. Familiarity with EPA, CARB, NHTSA, OSHA, and HAZMAT regulatory schemes is preferred.
Must be a solution oriented team player who is very comfortable working closely with engineers in a dynamic, cross-cultural environment. The role requires frequent communication with overseas clients. Job Functions
Advise on new and in-use vehicle emissions and on-board diagnostics regulatory compliance, including GHG, CAFE and CARB regulations.
Advise on internal product (vehicle) quality investigations and, if warranted, on every aspect of implementing appropriate field actions, including recalls.
Advise on government inquiries and investigations and help the company provide clear, robust, timely, and transparent responses to the regulators.
Provide direct oversight of compliance with certain aspects of TREAD Early Warning Reporting requirements.
Advise on all stationary source environmental matters [permitting, emissions (air, water, waste), spills, and reporting] for manufacturing facilities.
Advise on worker health and safety including State and Federal OSHA compliance
Advise on hazardous materials compliance.
Advise global research and development, total customer satisfaction, and manufacturing clients on regulatory compliance.
Provide preventative education and training to global research and development, total customer satisfaction, and manufacturing clients.
Prepare correspondence, legal memoranda, and written reports to management.
Participate in global and regional initiatives as valued member of company functional teams.
Make proactive contributions that maximize departmental efficiencies and simplify processes. Education: J.D. degree from ABA accredited law school; member of bar in state of practice; eligibility for admission to TN Bar.
Travel: Occasional day or overnight travel, including international travel.
Experience: 7-10 years of legal experience, including experience in relevant practice area or equivalent. Advising on recalls and regulations involving consumer products is strongly preferred. Prior experience with working with engineers and products is preferable but not required.
Employer will assist with relocation costs.
