Witt/Kieffer is assisting Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) based in Nashville, Tennessee in recruiting candidates for the newly created role of Division Counsel, Employment and Title IX. We bring this important position to your attention in the hope that you might assist us in identifying potential candidates who have the appropriate experience and background to join VUMC’s growing in-house legal department. Reporting to the Managing Counsel for Healthcare Delivery and Operations, the Division Counsel, Employment and Title IX is responsible for providing legal expertise regarding labor and employment law and Title IX related matters. S/he will also collaborate with other attorneys, human resources and senior administration. The Division Counsel, Employment and Title IX is a highly strategic and proactive legal counsel that is well versed in the business dynamics and regulatory environment of employment and Title IX. This individual is tactful and diplomatic while addressing often highly sensitive matters related to personnel, faculty and student matters. This person will serve as the go-to person on the legal team when dealing with Title IX related allegations and complaints.

The successful candidate must have excellent academic credentials, a law degree from an ABA accredited school of law, membership in the State Bar of Tennessee or eligibility for admission on reciprocity is required and an outstanding record of achievement with at least five (5) years of experience with employment law and Title IX, FERPA, and other U.S. Department of Education regulatory areas gained in-house or through working closely with academic clients. Specific experience working in higher education is preferred.
