Legal Counsel will work to assist General Counsel –US in a wide variety of matters, including contracts, litigation, regulatory, government affairs, administrative, compliance, and other miscellaneous matters. Legal Counsel will also engage and manage outside counsel.
Contracts: Work on a wide variety of agreements including, confidentiality, non-disclosure, licensing, business development, professional services, supply/supply chain, master service agreements with statements of work, procurement, IT, settlement agreements
Counselling: Provide counselling directly to executive management including Vice-Presidents and Directors on brand and generic pharmaceutical issues including sales and marketing activities, drug pricing, grants, etc.
Litigation: Help to manage litigation including discovery efforts, coordinate with outside counsel, subpoenas, depositions and strategy and settlement of proceedings.
Regulatory: Work with regulatory on REMS issues. Assist with FDA issues related to products and facilities. Assist in drafting FDA submissions. Assist in regulatory legal policy.
Government Affairs: Retain and work with counsel and Vice President of Government Affairs regarding varied issues related to government inquiries, government policies and procedures.
Administrative: Counsel and advise on API sourcing issues, pedigree and administrative procedures related thereto. Work to ensure all state licenses are up to date and current.
Compliance: Work with compliance officers to create policies and procedures, implement and train on compliance policies, support data privacy and security issues.
Supervises and coordinates the engagement, activities and compensation of outside counsel retained by the Apotex Group, upon direction of the General Counsel- US.
Work with multiple departments to ensure a fluid process and timely response to needs.
Be detailed oriented and handle multiple priorities. Will need to have a strong comfort level with multitasking, managing expectations and delivering on time sensitive deadlines
Works as a member of a team to achieve all outcomes.

A law degree from a US law school and a licensed member in good standing with a State Bar.
4-6 years’ experience with law firm or as in-house counsel
Preferably experience working for or on behalf of generic pharmaceutical companies
Strong drafting and negotiation skills
Ability to perform successfully in cross-functional teams, with the ability to lead, influence, counsel and monitor
Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
