Employment Assistant General Counsel – U.S., Canada and Latin America

As our Assistant General Counsel – Employment for the U.S., Canada and Latin America, you'll assist the Global Employment Counsel in providing advice and counsel to Human Resources and business managers on general employment law issues, including consideration and implementation of policies and procedures. You'll also partner in selecting and managing outside counsel for employment litigation and will lead the process through resolution. You'll coordinate and supervise response to administrative charges and potential claims against the company. In addition, you'll provide advice and counsel with regard to legal compliance issues affecting employees (OFCCP, I-9s, disability, FMLA, FCPA, etc.) and assist the Global Employment Counsel in developing strategy to respond to compliance issues.
Juris Doctor degree
6-8 years of experience in employment law in a corporate and/or law firm with an emphasis on the following specialty areas: litigation, administrative proceedings (state or federal), compliance issues, and negotiation of executive level contracts
Member, in good standing, of at least one US State Bar and willingness to commit to membership in the Oregon State Bar
Creative and decisive problem-solver
Strong oral and written communication skills with solid business acumen
Team player and leader who can enhance performance, improve productivity and get results on tight deadlines in a fast moving environment
International experience working with global organizations is highly desirable
Experiences with labor law and Affirmative Action plans/audits are highly desirable
Ability to speak Spanish or Portuguese is a plus
