This position is for a Senior Compliance Attorney reporting to the Staff Director – Integrity & Compliance and will be a member of the Corporate Integrity & Compliance group within the FedEx Legal Department. The attorney will have day-to-day responsibility for, among other things, developing, implementing and managing programs designed to ensure compliance with the FedEx Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and corporate policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the Corporate Integrity & Compliance group, as appropriate, with overall implementation and management of Corporate Integrity & Compliance programs, including the creation and modification of compliance policies and procedures and compliance training and communications programs.
Remain abreast of laws, regulations, best practices and trends related to FedEx’s compliance programs and advise the Staff Director – Integrity & Compliance and the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) of emerging compliance issues. Make recommendations to the Staff Director – Integrity & Compliance and the CCO as appropriate.
Develop initiatives designed to promote the FedEx culture of integrity and compliance.
Provide advice and counsel to management and employees about the FedEx Integrity & Compliance Programs.
Assist the Corporate Integrity & Compliance group, as appropriate, with global compliance risk assessment programs.
Develop and deploy tools to monitor the effectiveness of FedEx’s Integrity & Compliance programs, identify gaps and drive improvements.
Implement and manage enterprise-wide projects related to FedEx’s Integrity & Compliance Programs.
Skills/Knowledge Considered a Plus:
Knowledge and experience with multinational corporate compliance programs, including codes of conduct, global anti-corruption, antirust and conflicts of interest.
Knowledge and experience with developing compliance program training and communications.
Experience working with international locations or handling international compliance-related issues.
Knowledge and experience with enterprise risk management and/or compliance risk assessment programs.
Excellent organizational, communications, project management and human relations skills.
Minimum Qualifications: Juris doctorate degree from an A.B.A. accredited law school and admission to the bar. At least eight years of experience and demonstrated competence as a practicing attorney in relevant area of law. Superior academic record. Ability to determine appropriateness of settlement or litigation. Excellent research and writing skills. Strong negotiation, human relations and communications skills.
