Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA) has been exclusively retained by Kids II, Inc. (Company) to conduct a search for a General Counsel. Our client is an equal opportunity employer. Overview: Reporting to the CFO, the General Counsel (GC) will be a trusted advisor to the Kids II executive leadership team. The GC will manage the work of the company’s internal legal team, as well as outside counsel, on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, product liability, intellectual property, contracts, employment matters and other relevant business or litigation issues. S/he will provide legal advice on both strategic and operational matters, and advise the leadership team on issues currently and potentially affecting the company. The GC will be a leader in the creation and execution of the company’s intellectual property strategy.
Company: Founded in 1969 as Pansy Ellen Products, Kids II is a privately-held infant and toddler product manufacturer based in Atlanta. The company’s brands include Bright Starts, Baby Einstein, Comfort & Harmony, Ingenuity, Taggies and Oball. It also contracts to manufacture Disney-brand products. Kids II has international operations in Australia, Canada, Europe, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Mexico and South Africa, and it has approximately 500 employees worldwide. Compensation: Competitive compensation package.
Experience: 10+ years of experience including managing an in-house legal team as well as experience with a top law firm; relevant experience working with a CEO or Board of Directors in a strategic and advisory capacity. Experience with consumer products and/or retailer industry preferred.
Bar: License to practice law and in good standing with at least one State Bar; admission to practice before the USPTO.
Employer will assist with relocation costs.
