ACC is looking to appoint a person to assist the Association to meet its objectives in the Key Regions.
The successful candidate will be responsible initially for developing and executing activities to increase ACC membership, sponsorship, programming and awareness in Hong Kong, thereby strengthening the visibility and strategic positioning of the Association globally.
This successful candidate will also develop programming and leadership in the other Key Regions as needed.
The successful candidate will report to the Vice President and Managing Director, Australia and Asia Pacific.
The successful candidate must reside in Hong Kong.
The successful candidate must have Chinese language skills, and be familiar with the Key Regions and their cultural norms.
The successful candidate’s duties will be undertaken in collaboration with the Asia Pac team and ACC Hong Kong (including the chapter administrator, T-8 Consulting).
Ideally the position will be full-time but ACC will consider part-time for the right candidate. ACC is flexible in terms of whether the position is an employee or contractor.
“Key Regions” means predominantly Hong Kong (initially in the first year) and India and greater China as required (likely Beijing and Shanghai).

ACC Headquarters (HQ) is located in Washington DC who provides the strategic direction of all the International Chapters, including ACC Australia.
ACC Australia is an international chapter of ACC and is based in Melbourne. The Melbourne office also houses ACC Asia Pacific staff who are responsible for the Asia Pacific region.
ACC Strategic Objectives
As part of ACC’s Strategic Plan, the following are the key areas of focus in relation to ACC’s expansion into the Asia region including:
Continue growth efforts in Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Shanghai and Beijing
Hosting an annual Pan-Asian conference for in-house counsel in Hong Kong in 2019.
ACC Asia Pacific
Currently in Asia Pacific, ACC has chapters in Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore, with a presence in Shanghai, Beijing and India. ACC has partnership arrangements with law firms and legal publications across all these regions including co-branding publications, co-hosting ACC programs, events and functions. ACC branding arrangements have already been established with the International Law Office (ILO) including co-sponsoring the ILO/ACC Asian Counsel Awards in March each year.
ACC has recently entered into an alliance with the Hong Kong Corporate Counsel Association under which all HKCCA members became ACC members and HKCCA was rebranded to a chapter called ACC Hong Kong.
The following are the key responsibilities of the position:
Supporting the HKCCA Alliance
The successful candidate will support the Vice President and the chapter board on all aspects of the implementation of the alliance with HKCCA. This position will work closely with the ACC Hong Kong Board to provide regular updates on ACC global activities as well as their progress in Hong Kong in delivering member services (see below).
Membership and member services
The successful candidate will contribute to the development of, and be responsible for the day to day monitoring and implementation of, the strategy to build ACC’s brand awareness, increase programming, sponsorship, membership and member retention in Key Regions, including:
Generating and reporting on prospect leads in Key Regions through a variety of sources including the Internet, event registration reports and direct leads;
Developing and executing membership activities to grow membership, including engagement with general counsel and large legal teams, holding meetings and conducting resource demonstrations;
Assisting the ACC Hong Kong chapter board in developing new local events that attract new members and engage and retain existing members; and
Organizing industry events such as round-tables and networking opportunities in Hong Kong and other Key Regions.
Building networks and relationships
The successful candidate will:
Identify and liaise with other relevant associations and stakeholders in the Key Regions and other ACC partners on behalf of ACC with the goal of increasing ACC visibility, membership and understanding of what ACC provides;
Identify and reach out to potential sponsors/hosts for local/regional ACC events and programs in Hong Kong and other Key Regions. Reach out to existing sponsors to ensure continued support;
Work with ACC Global Marketing staff to develop and execute a new sponsorship program that seeks to raise revenue and increase law firm support of activities including workshops, roundtables and other events in Hong Kong and the other Key Regions; and
Raise sponsorship funds (for example, via negotiation with law firms) and develop sponsorship arrangements for ACC roundtables, events and programming in Key Regions.
Environmental scanning and cross functional collaboration
The successful candidate will:
Research markets & competitors in Key Regions and their offerings and how to sell ACC in light of competition;
Identify following opportunities to expand ACC position and provide to ACC staff:
speakers in Key Regions for webcasts;
CLE topics in Key Regions;
experts for leading practice profiles in Key Regions;
authors/interviewees in Key Regions for ACC Docket;
topics for legal resources in Key Regions; and
possible volunteer leaders in Key Regions; and
Collaborate with and support all functional areas of HQ to deliver ACC services in the Key Regions.
Conference and other duties
The successful candidate will:
Lead the delivery and implementation with the Vice President of a pan-Asian conference in 2019 in Hong Kong. Work with marketing, education and other relevant staff at Melbourne and HQ for assistance and support.
Undertake such other duties as required by the Vice President.
