OVERVIEW: Reporting to the VP & General Counsel, the Legal Director will have a broad scope of responsibilities tied to structuring Zymergen’s arrangements with external parties and developing its legal operations internally to support a growing, diverse employee base. The Legal Director will counsel internal clients across science, technology, operations and administrative groups on contract negotiations, business planning and legal risk mitigation. The Legal Director will understand the business needs and perspectives of various project teams and translate that understanding into pragmatic legal advice and solutions. Primary duties will involve supporting company financings, advising on investor relations matters, managing compliance programs, and negotiating agreements with external parties, including NDAs, customer agreements, vendor agreements and commercial real estate arrangements. There will also be substantial responsibility for corporate development matters.
