Counsel or Senior Counsel –Corporate Governance and Securities
Major, Lindsey & Africa has been engaged on an exclusive basis by NiSource Inc. to identify a Counsel or Senior Counsel – Securities and Corporate Governance. NiSource, a publicly traded company with revenues of $4.4B in 2016, is one of the largest fully regulated utility companies in the United States, serving approximately 3.5 million natural gas customers and 500,000 electric customers across seven states through its local Columbia Gas and NIPSCO brands. This position will be located in Merrillville, Indiana or Columbus, Ohio.
Reporting to Vice President and Corporate Secretary, the Counsel – Corporate Governance and Securities will provide legal advice and support for the Corporate Secretary’s Office and on public disclosures and other matters for which the Corporate Secretary’s Office is responsible. S/he will primarily support the Corporate Secretary, and also help manage the Office of the Corporate Secretary. The successful candidate will have at least three (3) years of experience within a reputable law firm and/or in-house legal department of a mid to large size corporation and will be expected to have knowledge of corporate governance standards and trends, as well as federal securities law, particularly the 1934 Act and regulations, and general corporate law.
