Lowe’s seeks a creative, solutions-minded candidate to operate in a dynamic, fast-paced environment for a role that will support critical work streams to drive the Company’s continued evolution as an omni-channel retailer. The Associate Counsel, Commercial and Consumer Transactions reports to a Vice President, Assistant General Counsel and may be responsible for drafting and negotiating various types of commercial and consumer agreements and assisting in creating customer experiences related to retail, consumer services, ecommerce, or the Internet of things, the procurement of marketing and promotional services for consumption by the Company, counseling on consumer laws and regulatory requirements related to consumer service offerings and retail products, and sourcing and providing various service offerings to end user consumers and business customers in different sales channels and through different mediums.
This position supports various areas of the Company’s business, which may include merchandising, sourcing, marketing, smart home, pro sales, in-home sales, ecommerce/digital, and services. Core legal responsibilities may include commercial contracts, contract management, consumer law advice and counsel, ecommerce, consumer contracts and terms and conditions, commercial sales agreements, construction and specialty service licensure requirements, reseller agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and the provision of on-going education and training on related issues.
The position is responsible for managing and providing results that support key client groups by providing practical legal advice and recommendations to enable the clients to meet challenging business objectives, often in emerging areas of business and law. The person in this position must be able to identify and mitigate legal risks by understanding legal issues and translating them into easily understood and practical legal advice and counsel while also being able to identify and communicate potential options and solutions to meeting business objectives within applicable legal, regulatory, and business constraints.
This position requires working closely with others across the Lowe’s Legal Department and its global locations, as well as other leaders across the company in order to develop holistic, meaningful, and practical advice and recommendations to the clients. The successful candidate may be called upon to manage large projects, external relationship partners such as outside counsel, or to work closely with non-attorney professionals and/or paraprofessionals.
J.D. from an ABA accredited institution
Minimum of 4 years relevant experience
Licensed to practice law and in good standing in at least one state
Strong academic credentials from the respective ABA accredited institution

Exceptional oral and written communications, presentation, interpersonal and facilitation skills. Must interact confidently, persuasively, and diplomatically with all levels of the organization.

Familiarity with one of the following: Retail, Ecommerce, B2B Sales, Product Sourcing, Home Improvement, Construction and Trades’ Licensure and Regulations, Internet of Things.
Experience with and understanding of the legal issues related to the following areas: connected devices and related services’ concepts and terminology; product sourcing transactions; consumer laws and regulations for goods and services; ecommerce; construction law, regulations, and licensure.
