Position Summary: The Associate General Counsel at Rochester Regional Health will assist the General Counsel and the other members of the legal department in managing the legal affairs of the health system.
Provide legal advice and services on a broad array of issues facing a health system with a focus on healthcare regulatory advice and contract drafting and negotiation.
Provide day-to-day legal counsel on regulatory matters that affect health care entities, including Stark and anti-kickback, HIPAA, compliance, not-for-profit laws and Article 28.
Draft, review, analyze and negotiate various contracts and agreements with internal business leaders, outside vendors and consultants.
Coordinate with internal recruiters and business leaders to draft, review, negotiate and amend physician employment agreements.
Draft, review and revise Rochester Regional Health policies and procedures.
Advise management on recent changes in laws and regulations that affect Rochester Regional Health.
Establish and maintain a good rapport and working relationship with business leaders in order to encourage and continue the proactive use of in-house legal counsel.
Manage the work of and relationships with outside counsel.
Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school.
Admission to and good standing with the New York bar or another State with the ability to be admitted in New York on motion/reciprocity.
At least 5 years of professional legal experience in a law firm or the legal department of a large health system or other health care provider.
Proven ability to succeed as a member of a high performing team.
Strong management and communication skills.
High level of emotional intelligence, excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to make sound judgments.
Ability to provide high quality legal work without a great deal of supervision by more senior attorneys.
Ability to describe complex legal issues simply and succinctly.
