As a member of the U.S. Business Law team, provides legal advice and counsel on issues related to Cigna products, programs, services, and business relationships. Position is responsible for providing timely, practical, and creative legal advice and business counsel in areas of responsibility and ensuring compliance with legal requirements, minimizing enterprise risk, and protecting Cigna's reputation.
Accountable for knowledge and expertise with relevant federal and state laws and regulations, including ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, insurance and managed care laws.
Areas of responsibility include the following:
Lead Counsel for the fee-for-value programs, including program design, development and maintenance of standard contracting documents, negotiation support, and related financial and accounting issues.
Provides direction and assistance to Counsel and other legal team members supporting the fee-for-value programs.
Collaborates with the business team on the impact and response to proposed and new legislation.
Working with the compliance team, ensure fee-for-value programs comply with federal and state laws, including privacy, ERISA, and state managed care laws.
Supports Sales including negotiation of ASO agreements, issue resolution, and working with the compliance team responds to regulatory inquiries and complaints.
Supports Contracting through negotiation of provider contracts, including provider contracts for specialized networks, such as transplant and worker's compensation.
Resolution of disputes with goal to achieve best business result.
