Overview: The Associate General Counsel (AGC) reports to the SVP General Counsel and works closely with outside counsel as directed by the SVP General Counsel, in-house attorneys, and Lexington representatives. The AGC must have a comfort level with healthcare’s regulatory framework and reimbursement programs, drafting contracts, developing policies, and advising staff and management on legal issues as well as regulatory and administrative matters. This position also serves as the primary legal resource for one or more key practice areas (e.g., employment law) across all of Lexington's sites when legal involvement is needed as designated by the SVP General Counsel.
Company: Lexington Medical Center, the Carolinas’ largest extended care facility, is a 428-bed modern medical complex anchoring a vast, countywide network of care in greater Columbia, South Carolina. Experience: A minimum of 8 years of legal experience including law firm or in-house, including at least 3-5 years of health law experience. Litigation and/or administrative hearing experience preferred with ability to conduct interviews, draft pleadings, Stark and Anti-kickback laws, and participate in court and administrative proceedings. Ability and willingness to work with employees at all levels within the Hospital to identify and resolve legal concerns and to facilitate process changes to prevent future occurrences as needed.
Bar Admission: Must be a current member of the South Carolina State Bar or be willing and eligible to join South Carolina State Bar.
