The primary responsibility of the Staff Attorney – Compliance is to work as a member of the Compliance Department that is responsible for complying with statutory and regulatory requirements under the direction of the Chief Compliance Officer.
All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and Las Vegas Sands Corp.’s policies, practices, and procedures.
Perform corporate compliance responsibilities as assigned by the V.P. of Compliance/US Compliance Officer;
Monitor the Company’s U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) programs and escalate violations, communicate with regulators, and recommend actions to be taken;
Acquire or possess knowledge of various statutory and regulatory requirements including, but not limited to, Nevada and Pennsylvania gaming regulations;
Develop expertise in FCPA, OFAC and ACP including due diligence, reporting requirements and T&E standards;
Examine data produced by other departments to determine whether the data has been produced in compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) developed for regulatory compliance including examining the processes employed by other departments to determine that the SOPs are being followed as designed and as may be improved;
Oversee the screening of U.S. charitable contributions and other third-party relationships including vendors, lobbyists and consultants;
Evaluate potential conflicts of interest under corporate policy;
Revise internal investigations procedures to ensure compliance with vendor suitability, registration, and certification requirements in Nevada and Pennsylvania;
Review and prepare submissions for state regulators and regional Compliance committees;
Work with business units to remediate compliance operation risk issues;
Assist in the monitoring of compliance with applicable laws through training and other means;
Perform risk assessments with business groups to design and implement mitigation programs;
Manage the Company’s ethics hotline and prepare related corporate books and records;
Developing standardized global compliance training and supplemental materials to promote compliance awareness;
Prepare outside counsel for discussions with Federal regulators.
Juris Doctorate, required
Demonstrated ability to work independently but collaboratively with other attorneys and internal business partners across multiple business lines.
Demonstrate ability to work with a team and coordinate work and legal matters with a team.
Superior analytical and writing skills.
