In-House Counsel Position M&A/Financial Services Attorney at Growing Financial Services Firm
This is an outstanding opportunity for a junior or mid-level attorney to join a growing, collegial legal team at the New York City headquarters of Focus Financial Partners. Focus Financial Partners is a leading partnership of over 40 independent wealth management firms located throughout the United States and abroad that is actively growing through its robust acquisition strategy (www.focusfinancialpartners.com). The successful candidate will be self-motivated and comfortable working in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
Support M&A and other transactions, including by assisting with drafting and negotiating transaction agreements and related documentation and helping with due diligence. Coordinate feedback and input from key internal stakeholders.
Assist with regulatory and compliance initiatives and take ownership of associated projects relating to the wealth management/financial services industry.
Support corporate secretarial functions and related corporate filings.
Assist in drafting of reporting documents and filings.
Monitor regulatory trends and draft updates for distribution to partner firms.
Perform legal research and assist with other miscellaneous legal matters as needed.
Assist in managing outside counsel when necessary.
A Juris Doctor degree from a nationally recognized U.S. law school.
A minimum of two years as an attorney at a major U.S. law firm focusing largely on M&A and other transactional matters.
Excellent writing (including drafting) and oral communication skills.
An understanding of securities laws and SEC regulation generally. Familiarity with the regulation of investment advisers specifically will be a definite plus.
Sound business judgement and the ability to think strategically.
Ability to manage multiple complex projects efficiently.
Desire to work collaboratively as part of a cohesive team.
