Major Lindsey & Africa (MLA) has been engaged by a global institution to conduct an exclusive search for a Fixed Income Attorney for its New York, New York office. Our client, (“the Company”) is an equal opportunity employer.
Overview: Fixed income attorney (FIA) for a large municipal markets group, which includes origination bankers, underwriting desk and sales and trading personnel. Ongoing advice in connection with the day-to-day operations of the department on a wide variety of legal issues. Emphasis on municipal underwriting and various regulations (e.g. SEC, MSRB, Volcker) impacting the business. Document review includes bond purchase agreements, response to request for proposals made by municipal entities, engagement letters, confidentiality agreements and other legal documents. Active participation on various control committees. Supervision of the work of Underwriters Counsel
Compensation: Competitive base salary + bonus + equity
Relocation: Not likely.
Experience: At least four years of relevant legal experience. Experience with securities and corporate legal matters. Working knowledge of SEC regulations and debt offerings (corporate or municipal) is required. Candidate must be a highly motivated self-starter who is very adept at problem solving.
Candidate must have strong leadership skills and excellent writing, drafting and presentation skills.
Candidate must have effective negotiating and excellent interpersonal skills. Law firm experience is required. Candidate must have a JD degree and be admitted to at least one state bar (active/good standing)
Bar: Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
