The Company is presently seeking a self-motivated and independent litigation counsel to join the NRT Central Regional legal group which conducts operations in the States of Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Wisconsin, Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and Michigan. This position is based in west suburban Chicago, Illinois and some travel may be required.
Investigating legal issues and interpreting/advising on laws and regulations involving varied substantive legal areas, including real estate brokerage, property management, contracts, regulatory compliance at the federal, state and local levels, and licensing.
Representing the company and affiliated real estate agents in litigation, arbitration, mediation and regulatory proceedings.
Providing risk-management training and continuing education.
At least five years legal experience required, preferably either with similar in-house legal experience or law firm experience.
Membership in the Illinois Bar; membership in other state bars identified above will be a positive consideration, but not required.
Significant trial experience at either the state and/or federal level required.
The preferred candidate will have experience with and knowledge of real estate brokerage licensing statutes and regulations.
