Corporate Generalist, General Commercial/Contracts, Healthcare
The Chief Legal Counsel will report to the General Counsel and serves as the key legal advisor and a strategic partner to the Group President for several key business units. There will be a focus on leading, building, and developing a team to manage and address a broad range of legal and compliance issues affecting the various business units in the Group consistent with laws, regulations, and policies. The Chief Legal Counsel will work closely with other members of the Department Leadership Team to plan, develop, and coordinate strategies (including processes and procedures) in order to address the evolving complex needs and demands of the business.
Serves as the key legal advisor on a wide variety of issues to the Group President and sits as a member of the Leadership Team.
Helps to drive legal strategy to align with and achieve business objectives.
Supervises/oversees/manages the legal and compliance resources that are dedicated to the various business units in the Group.
Leads, manages, and builds a team for maximum development and impact, identifies talent and skill gaps, seeks opportunities to grow the knowledge and expertise needed for future success and fosters collaborative environment and employee engagement.
Provides timely advice and counsel to the Leadership Team on industry trends, and laws, regulations, and policies.
Collaborates and communicates regularly and effectively with other members of the Department Leadership Team, as well as other members of the Legal & Compliance Department to plan, develop, and coordinate strategies (including processes and procedures) in order to address the evolving complex needs and demands of the business.
Identifies issues that can and should be addressed by Legal & Compliance subject matter experts, and works with those subject matter experts to address and resolve complex issues of import to the team and to the company.
Follows and supervises/oversees the implementation, development, and improvement of internal processes of greater significance and scope.
Works with their team and other members of the Legal & Compliance Department to identify opportunities for and initiate and assist in the development and provision of training and education.
Identifies, retains, actively manages, and strategizes with outside counsel.
Minimum 15 years applicable professional experience; prior professional experience considered.
