Our client, a dynamic Michigan based technology company, is seeking an experienced attorney to serve as their Global Compliance Officer. Responsibilities for this role will include the following:
1. Lead and enhance company's global compliance program, including with respect to business conduct, anti-corruption, trade sanctions, competition law and privacy. 2. Coordinate with management, HR an Internal Audit on disciplinary actions in case of Compliance breaches. 3. Coordinate and conduct training of employees regarding compliance with laws and policies. 4. Coordinate and conduct a risk assessment of company's significant legal and compliance risks. 5. Provide support and advice to business teams on compliance and policy matters. 6. Coordinate closely with other functions, such as HR, Finance, Internal Audit and Legal. Build partnerships with these groups. 7. Work with Internal Audit to determine whether there are adequate internal controls supporting the company’s compliance objectives. 8. Conduct reviews of each part of the Compliance program to determine its effectiveness.
Candidates must have the following qualifications to be considered: 1. Have led or managed significant functions of a global compliance program. 2. In-depth experience leading anti-bribery and anti-corruption compliance programs to meet the requirements of the FCPA, UK Bribery Act and similar anti-corruption laws globally. 3. Strong background in leading internal investigations. 4. International business and/or compliance experience. 5. Practical experience working with EU privacy programs. 6. Excellent communications skills; both verbal & written. 7. Ability to manage multiple projects at one time and prioritize among them. 8. Experience working in an industrial company 9. Demonstrated ability to influence senior level management. 10. A practical & common sense approach that employs project management tools. 11. 10+ years combined law firm & in-house experience as a practicing compliance professional.
