Lattice’s Legal team has an opening for an Associate Corporate Counsel to be stationed in San Jose, California, or at headquarters in Portland, Oregon. The Associate Corporate Counsel will be supporting the Company’s commercial negotiations, patent prosecution and invention harvesting activities, intellectual property licensing and general corporate strategic activities. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of experience in patent prosecution, intellectual property counseling and licensing projects, with a degree in or background related to electrical engineering or computer science. The candidate will report to the Company’s General Counsel and work closely with the Company’s Corporate Counsel (Commercial) and Corporate Counsel (Intellectual Property). JD required. Membership in the Oregon, Washington or California Bar is preferred. Responsibilities will include:
Patent prosecution and portfolio management, including preparation of US office action responses, evaluating office actions and prior art from foreign patent offices and directly instructing foreign associates, reviewing draft patent applications and office action responses prepared by outside counsel, and ensuring alignment of outside counsel work product with objectives for particular patent applications
Invention harvesting and evaluation
Servicing inventor requests for assistance and advice
Providing counsel to internal customers regarding commercial negotiations with customers and vendors;
Supporting the implementation of the Company’s commercial and intellectual property strategic plans;
Negotiating and concluding commercial and licensing agreements with various third-parties, including customers and strategic partners; and
Engaging in various strategic projects, including acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and other collaborations.
